ABOUT MY WORK
**Observation and Immersion**
The journey begins with observation, where I spend extended periods within the artist’s creative space, witnessing their processes firsthand. This immersive approach allows me to grasp the nuances of their practice, uncovering details and dynamics that only emerge through sustained engagement. At CRUDA, my studio, this stage is about stepping into the messy and vulnerable “in-between,” where ideas are continuously unmade and remade, where ruptures and breakthroughs occur.
**Narratives and Collaboration**
A significant part of my work involves engaging in conversations with artists through interviews and personal storytelling. These interactions provide a window into the context, motivations, and reflections shaping their work. By listening deeply and creating a space of trust, I help uncover the narratives that breathe life into their creations, forging a collaborative relationship that influences both their process and mine.
**Detailed Documentation**
Central to my practice is the act of documentation itself—capturing the visible and intangible elements of creation. Through video, complemented by notes and observations, I document not just tools and techniques but also moments of doubt, playfulness, and innovation. This meticulous approach is evident in works like *NODES* (2019), an experimental documentary where I reframed research-creation projects from the Milieux Institute, revealing them in fresh, unexpected contexts.
**Cultural and Contextual Analysis**
Beyond recording, I delve into the broader cultural and symbolic dimensions of the creative process. Through analysis, I identify patterns, meanings, and connections that situate the artist’s work within a wider societal and artistic framework. This reflective layer highlights the cultural and human depth of their practice, as seen in pieces like *Don Federico,* which critiques the normalization of gender-based violence through juxtaposition of found footage and evocative storytelling.
**Crafting and Sharing Narratives**
With the collected material and experiences, I develop creative pieces that articulate the essence of the artistic process. These works are not mere archives but are reflective, aesthetic narratives that celebrate the complexity of creation. By embracing both the chaos and clarity inherent in the journey, I aim to craft stories that resonate deeply with audiences. The dissemination of these pieces in visible spaces ensures that the transformative power of the creative process reaches broader communities, sparking dialogue and engagement.
**A Vision for the Future**
Through experimental methodologies and immersive technologies, I aspire to innovate in the field of art documentation, capturing the essence of live and digital art practices. At CRUDA, documentation is an active and collaborative process—one that celebrates the lightness of play, the weight of frustration, and the profound humanity at the core of artistic labor. Our approach mirrors Shavasana, the resting pose in yoga, where transformation quietly takes root. By making the knowledge and depth of creative processes accessible, I aim to honor the artists’ journeys while inspiring future generations to explore and expand the boundaries of creation.
